Laguna Nichupté

Cancún, 77500
Description: Cancún´s tourist zone rests on a sandbar that stretches around the Nichupté Lagoon, which is almost 7.5 miles long and just over 3 miles wide. Many hotels and restaurants face toward the lagoon's white sand beaches and emerald waters. The lagoon is the perfect area for water sports such as windsurfing and jet skiing. The waters are also perfect for scuba diving since the fairly shallow waters let in a lot of sunlight. On some of the lagoon´s beaches, visitors can also find some good fishing.

Playa Caracol

Km 6, near Punta Cancún, Cancún, 77500

Description: ZONA HOTELERA. Playa Caracol is one of Cancún's most popular beaches for several reasons. It is located in the heart of the Hotel Zone, which makes it close to many of Cancún's restaurants and puts it in the heart of the shopping district. Families also flock to this beach because of its relatively flat seabed and because the currents here are less strong than at other beaches.

Playa Chemuyil

Carretera Cancún-Tulum, Tulum, 77500 998-887-4329
Description: TULUM. If you're looking to get away from the crowded Cancún beaches, then make the drive to Playa Chemuyil. The peaceful environs of this beach include smooth white sand that's as fine as power, pristine waters, and even a hiking trail along the coast. Though there's a small charge, it is well worth it for amenities like public restrooms and showers, a medical clinic, and a restaurant serving local cuisine. Protected by a reef, the beach is a perfect spot for snorkeling or canoeing.

Playa Delfines

Km 18, near Punta Nizuc, Cancún, 77500
Description: ZONA HOTELERA. Though you may not want to brave the dangerous, current-ridden waters at Playa Delfines, it is an excellent option for sunbathing or enjoying beachside activities. Bring the family for a picnic, or plan a romantic getaway from the crowds with that special someone. The beach is never crowded, so it's also a great choice for groups who want to get a good volleyball or beach-football game underway.

Playa Langosta

Km 5, Cancún, 77500
Description: ZONA HOTELERA. Playa Langosta is one of Cancún's better options for swimming and water sports in general because of its relatively current-free waters. Beachgoers will especially appreciate the guided scuba diving and snorkeling tours offered here, and the beach''s close proximity to major Hotel Zone restaurants is also a plus. If you're up for a short excursion, Playa Langosta also offers a dock with shuttles to Isla Mujeres.

Playa Las Perlas

Km 2.5, Cancún, 77500
Description: ZONA HOTELERA. Lined with first-class restaurants on one side and crystalline waters on the other, Playa Las Perlas presents beachgoers with a grand opportunity to enjoy fun in the sun while still remaining close to the Hotel Zone action. The waves are some of the best around for boogey boarders, and pick-up volleyball games are common along the strand. A shuttle to Isla Meujeres is also available at the beach's dock.
